 Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol. It is used to dissolve or dilute research compounds.

The alcohol preservative inhibits bacterial growth, allowing multiple withdrawals from a single vial, typically within 28 days of the first puncture.
